This course has sparked creativity and imagination and connection in a time where it has been so difficult to find any of those things. During the covid-19 quarantine, it has been too easy to lose connection with your community and the material being taught in school because of it’s online format but this course provided a very natural way to learn through experimentation, trail and error, and primarly play. Through the development of my game which was a dream come true, I have learned how to use unity, how to code in C# and navigate piskel for art and animation. Along with the technical skills, I have learned how to enjoy the complexity and artistic element of games. As someone who has never played a lot of video games, I didn't quite understand the fascination but after taking this course and studying the MDA process, I have developed an appreciation for all games. I found this part of the course the most interesting. In order to truly understand MDA we had to read about games, we had to write a few games and play games. We also had to design, build, play and then redesign the game again a couple times to get it right. I also learned how to not manage my time. As the only programmer on the game, I struggled to hit all the visual marks that I wanted to while developing this game. The great thing is that I will not stop working on this game so I will continue to polish this until the foreseeable future.
